Smart Families

Smart families are another reason why Journler is the most powerful notebook program for the Macintosh computer. Journler supports multiple folder levels. A smart family is a group of tiered folders whose children take on the conditions of their parents.

For example, the top level smart folder in a smart family may have the single condition “title contains Journler.” It collects all the entries that match that single criterion. Add a smart folder underneath it whose single condition is “category is amazing.” Normally, that smart folder would collect all the entries which match the condition, but now, because it is part of a smart family, it respects the condition of its parent and only matches entries that meet both criteria.

Smart families give you incredible power and flexibility to organize your journal as you see fit. As you change conditions or move children and parents, the families automatically update to reflect the new structures. With smart families you are able to mix and match entry properties to create webs of significance that would otherwise not be visible.
